5 Reasons You Are Not Losing Fat!

From exercising daily to eating right, you are doing whatever it takes to get rid of that extra pounds but you can’t see the noticeable difference! This stilted progress results in unfinished New Year Resolutions and disappointed gym clients.

Though weight loss is the most common goal, it’s no easy task to achieve. However, instead of throwing in the towel, it’s time you start troubleshooting and get back in the game. Here are 5 reasons why you could not be losing weight:

1. You’re not eating mindfully

One of the biggest mistakes people make after starting workout regimen is that they don’t keep tab of what they are eating, often gaining back the calories they have burned. Binge eating, having junk, oily foods or foods containing lots of sugar can actually do more harm than good! Some people even drop pounds simply by eating food that has the right combination of protein, carbohydrate, and fat.   The key is to know what works for your body and what not.

2. You’re not working out hard enough

If you want to burn and drop body weight in quickest and most efficient way, you need to have the drive to achieve it. Those who intend to gain muscle mass and lose fat should lift weights and perform HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training). If you do cardio, make sure that you are performing full-body workouts with short rest periods.

3. You don’t sleep enough

Sleep deprivation can hinder you weight loss regimen to an extent you can’t imagine. When you don’t get adequate sleep, your cortisol level elevates, which is a fat no-no.  Prioritize your sleep. Late night parties or working for long hours can play havoc with your body. Aim for at least 8 hours of sleep at night at a stretch.

4. You’re stressed out

Stress is also a foremost obstacle to losing weight. When you are stressed out, your body produces cortisol at a much faster rate, increasing body fat storage and rendering negative effects on the body. Try performing pranayama, yoga techniques or read a book or invest in 10-15 minutes of meditation to relieve the stress levels.

5. You have a medical condition

People suffering from certain medical conditions like – hypothyroidism, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) and sleep apnea find it difficult to lose weight. Certain medications can also make weight loss harder or even cause weight gain. In such situations, you should consult your physician about the options.

So, if you want to make sure you are losing weight, work out efficiently, eat rightly and sleep better. Also, don’t forget to check out our fitness tips more often as we keep adding fresh batch of blogs each week!
